Your study stays on your device
Fumori is an offline Japanese study and reading app published by Seneku Design. This policy covers the iOS app, not the separate web application or the seneku.dev website.
Study cards, review answers, preferences, your reading library, source labels, collected words and phrases, sentence notes, bookmarks and reading history are stored on your device. Lessons, dictionary lookups and review scheduling run locally. The app has no developer-operated account, analytics, advertising, tracking or cloud-sync service.
Screenshots and shared reading
Screenshot text recognition uses Apple Vision on your device. Only the image you choose is read; images are not uploaded to a developer service or retained by Fumori after recognition.
The iOS share extension saves selected text or recognised screenshot text in a private shared inbox. Importing offers an editable preview. Source links are stored as labels; the app does not automatically download their pages. Pending captures stay in that inbox until imported or discarded and are not included in study backups. Saved passages, collections and notes are included.
Optional reminders
If you enable daily reminders, Fumori schedules notifications locally at your chosen time. Preferences remain on the device and are not included in exported study backups. No push server receives your study data. Turn reminders off in Fumori or change notification permission in iOS Settings.
Backups, retention and deletion
You choose where to export a backup through Files. That provider may store or sync it under its own terms. Backups contain your study history and reading library. Device backups may also include app data depending on your Apple settings.
Local progress stays until it is replaced or the app and its data are deleted. You can remove passages, collected language and sentence notes within the app; existing review cards may retain their source context. Deleting the app can remove local progress. Exported backups and provider copies must be managed separately. We cannot access or recover your local study files.
Audio and purchases
Bundled kana and vocabulary audio plays locally. Other Reader words and sentences may use an available Japanese system voice.
In builds offering Fumori Core, Apple processes payment and supplies verified purchase information through StoreKit. Fumori uses it on your device to unlock Core and restore purchases. We do not handle payment card details. Study backups do not include purchase ownership. Unrestricted beta builds do not offer purchases.
Support and TestFlight
If you choose to email support, we receive your address and the information you send. We use this correspondence to answer your request and investigate the reported issue. Do not include private Reader passages or backups unless you choose to share them. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of correspondence we hold; we retain it only as needed for support and any applicable record-keeping obligations.
TestFlight testing is subject to Apple's terms, including beta diagnostics and feedback. Information you choose to submit through TestFlight may be shared with the developer through Apple.
