Keep a copy of your progress
Open Settings → Export backup and choose a trusted location in Files. To restore, choose the file in Settings, check the preview, then confirm replacement. A recovery copy of your previous progress is kept.
Fumori does not sync study progress between devices. Export before changing devices or reinstalling. Purchases are restored separately through Apple.
Restore Fumori Core
In a store build, open Settings → Fumori Core → Restore purchases. Use the Apple Account that made the purchase and connect to the internet for restoration. Core is a one-time unlock, with no recurring subscription.
If the store is unavailable, your existing reviews, saved reading and backups remain accessible. Try again when connected. Beta builds may include Core without a purchase.
Bring text in from another app
Share selected Japanese text or a screenshot, then choose Fumori in the share sheet. If it is hidden, look under More and add Fumori to your favourites. Return to Fumori → Reader → Import to preview shared items.
You can also paste text, import a UTF-8 .txt file or choose a screenshot in Reader → Import. Japanese screenshot recognition requires iOS 16 or later. Check recognition and reading order before saving, especially with vertical text and manga. Each passage can contain up to 5,000 characters. Source URLs are labels, not automatic page downloads.
When Reader audio is unavailable
Kana and curriculum vocabulary have bundled normal and slow audio. Other words and sentences use an available Japanese system voice. If one is unavailable, check Japanese voice downloads in iOS accessibility speech settings while connected, then try again.
The synthetic audio is a pronunciation aid, not a pitch-accent reference. Include the word and whether normal or slow playback was affected when reporting an audio issue.
Reviews, answers and lesson unlocks
Type Japanese or romaji when a prompt asks for Japanese. For a particle, use its written form, such as は. A skipped card keeps its schedule. Recognition, listening, production and handwriting are scheduled separately.
Some lessons wait for earlier items to become stable in memory. This is an estimate, not a fixed seven-day wait. Study explains what opens the next lesson and offers moving ahead after prerequisites are introduced.
Use Flag this question after an answer to record an issue locally. Export your question report from Settings and share it with support only if you choose.
Daily reminders
Reminders are optional and off by default. Enable them in Settings, choose a time and allow notifications. If permission was denied, change it in iOS Settings. The app schedules up to seven days ahead and refreshes that schedule when you return; it does not send server notifications.
Report a problem
Email senekudesign+support@gmail.com with your app version/build, device and iOS version, steps, what happened and what you expected. Settings → Contact support prepares an email with the app version; you decide whether to send it.
Avoid sending private reading text, screenshots or backup files. We cannot retrieve local progress from a server. If a save fails, keep the app installed and contact support before resetting anything.
